A very important election will be held in Jefferson Parish this December.
On December 10th, voters in Jefferson Parish will decide on a renewal of 3 vital existing millages for Recreation, Drainage and Libraries. They will also decide on a renewal of the 1% sales tax on goods and services, excluding food and medical purchases. 1/8 of the 1% tax is dedicated to the Sherriff’s Office; the other 7/8 is dedicated to sewerage, drainage and roadway projects. The funding will be used for capital projects throughout the parish that have already been unanimously approved by the Jefferson Parish Council should the renewal pass. Again, these are all renewals of existing taxes, not new taxes.
