The Jefferson Business Council (JBC) is composed of senior decision-makers from the largest businesses in Jefferson Parish—typically those employing 100 or more individuals. Membership is by nomination from an existing member and approval by the general membership, ensuring a highly engaged, credible, and influential body of leaders.
The JBC has long been a strong voice in local, regional, and state government, serving as a unified advocate for the business community. It advances sound public policy, champions economic development, and works in partnership with government and regional stakeholders to address critical issues affecting business, infrastructure, workforce development, and overall quality of life in Jefferson Parish.
Welcome
As businesses need governmental policies that unleash the strength of the private sector, the Jefferson Business Council assists parish leaders in developing strategies for economic development and growth. Through advocacy and leadership, we foster open, frequent communication between community and government officials.
Accomplishments
The JBC has made great strides to ensure the prosperity of the region’s largest parish. Recently the JBC has been a principal advocate for the Jefferson Edge 2020 Quality of Life Initiative to address the parish’s most critical issues. These include flood protection, crime, public education, healthcare, beautification, insurance, economic development and the redevelopment of Fat City.

Jefferson Now
Jefferson Now is a survey commissioned by the Jefferson Business Council (JBC), in collaboration with the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Council (JEDCO), the Jefferson Chamber and the Jefferson Community Foundation. Conducted earlier this year by Faucheux Strategies, LLC, the results show 75% of residents rate the quality of life in Jefferson Parish Excellent or Good. This effort is designed to help our political, civic and business leaders with objective insights into our Parish’s strengths and challenges. It is the intent of the sponsoring organizations that this original Quality of Life survey will serve as a baseline from which future surveys can be compared and our progress on issues important to residents measured. The sponsoring organizations intend to work with elected officials and civic groups to address the challenges to our quality of life.
A summary of this survey is available at www.jeffersonnow.net.
